About Us

Our History

The New York Renegades began in 1987 as a break-away group in New York City, dedicating themselves solely to "play without politics". For the next 6 years, the original 5 members concentrated on hosting dungeon parties in Manhattan and "Reality Weekends" in New Jersey where Masters & slaves could live their roles non-stop for an entire weekend. In 1993, the Renegades initiated slave training workshops and served as co-hosts of "Outbound 93", a leather/rubber/BDSM action weekend in Rivendell, PA. In 1994, the Renegades began hosting their own "Renegade Run" in July, expanded their core membership to 13 Brothers, and reorganized and incorporated under the name "The NY Renegades", a brotherhood of men dedicated to having fun. Since then, the NY Renegades became famous for their "Dungeon Bar Nights" at the LURE, the Annual "Rites Of Spring" out in PA from 2001 to 2004, and the now world-renown "Mr. East Coast Rubber" contest every October, with one of the largest prize-packages in the kink world.

Our Present

Even as we enjoy our 21st year, with the political spectrum taking a conservative turn both in North America and across the pond, it is getting harder and harder for gay men to meet and play together. Gay leather/rubber men are a subculture of a subculture. Coming out to kink is hard enough as it is, and even once you get established in the community, outside forces may make it difficult to find a place where a gay leather/rubber man can meet others.

Our Purpose

The New York Renegades are a group of gay men dedicated to our motto of "PLAY HARD...PLAY SAFE" in the arena of BDSM/fantasy. We like to consider ourselves a family. We offer a place to feel comfortable and safe, and try to provide a sense of belonging. We welcome gay men of all ages, sizes, and experience levels. Our events are opportunities to meet other men with similar interests. We hold monthly social Bar Nights at the NYC Eagle. We will host two Dungeon parties per month from February through April where you can go about as far as you want. In October, we will hold our 13th annual All Club Bar Night as well as the 8th Mr. East Coast Rubber contest. Although we've had to CANCEL our annual Renegade Run for 2008, we've come up with an exciting "substitution" in August with our participation in "Floating World" at a much closer and more convenient location! We are a growing club, continually adding activities and members and, as our participation in this multi-organization bdsm event shows, we're expanding into new territories as well.

Our Philosophy

The old saying is true: everyone must begin somewhere. Newbies are more than welcome to join. Our events are meant to be safe places to learn from more advanced players, or to experience new things. Our membership consists of Tops, Masters, Sirs, boys, slaves, pups, dogs, ponies, people who are versatile, and other various creatures. We respect each other. Some clubs get mired in politics and petty in-fighting, becoming distracted from the passion, heat, energy, and the sense of discovery that S/M is all about. The New York Renegades embrace these concepts. Please explore the website. If you like what you see, feel free to join us at a bar night, or say hello if you see one of the Brothers wearing their colors. If you have any questions, feel free to ask or send us an e-mail. We don't bite, unless you want us to.

So come play with us. Even better, JOIN UP!
